Trip Summary
Fished Choctawhatchee Bay with my youngest son today. Targeted redfish, in depths ranging from 6’-35’, and sheepshead. Though we did catch our targeted species, we observed several anglers successfully catching some nice sheepshead while using oysters for bait (all I had aboard was frozen shrimp to offer). Upon returning to the landing, talked with angler who reported catching 2 over the slot redfish in 2’-3’ depth range late that afternoon. I would venture to say the reds transitioned into the shallows to warm up and feed on crabs. I congratulated the gentleman for his nice catches and thanked him for the information he shared with me. He caught them on a suspending, jerk type bait.
