Opening Weekend Red Snapper Report
This Memorial Day weekend we here at Alabama Coastal Charters are thankful for our military and have the utmost respect and appreciation for those who paid the ultimate price so we may live free.
Fishing was outstanding for the first two days of the season as there were numerous 20 pound snapper that were brought to the docks. There were also some really nice Cobia and King Mackerel caught in the Nearshore waters. The seas began to build on Saturday and there were hardly no boats fishing on Sunday and Monday.
Congratulations to McKinzie Turner as she has likely set the new IGFA Junior Female Angler World Record with a 30lb-4oz Red Snapper. The previous record was 26 pounds. There will still have to be some documentation to finalize the catch but It looks like McKinzie should have herself a new world record! We love to see kids catch fish here at Alabama Coastal Charters! Congratulations McKinzie!
