Finally, we can go out fishing again!! After 10 weeks in lock down using the time for maintenance and upgrades on the Gavito, yesterday we did our first fishing trip. We left the marina at 1500 hours and put out a full spread targeting tuna. The conditions looked promising and we headed west towards Ponta do Pargo After an hour of trolling we had a short hit on the shotgun. Five seconds later the fish hit it again and started to pull line fast! The excitement lasted for about 30 seconds when the fish said “thank you and goodbye” and got of the hook…. But still, this was very encouraging! In order to get some fish on the dinner table we took off to one o our favourite spots for bottom fishing an slow pitch jigging which resulted in a number of species such as Bared Hogfish, Red Rock fish, Lizard fish and different species of bream. After a few hours of fishing we returned to the marina happy to have been able to go out again and very happy with the improvements of the Gavito. We are going out soon again!
