Trip Summary

So we made a last minute impromptu trip yesterday with Flacos son. He has been meeting us at the dock when we return, as well as spending down days on the boat to start learning the ropes. He’s been working really hard and no better way to reward his hard work than to get him out with his father for their first offshore trip together. We got a late start, but fortunately the tuna have been pretty close and hanging around the same area. Well today they were right where we needed them and made quick work of enough tuna to make sure everyone eats good. We put the big stuff out hoping to maybe find a marlin in the area, but no dice. Heading back in we ran over a bottom spot that hasn’t been marking the past several times I stopped. It has traditionally been covered in Tilefish and today it was lit up again. We made a couple quick passes, which resulted in a small tile, and Jefferson’s double header grouper and margarita. We finished the day off at the Runaway with plates of fresh tuna and grouper. I’m pretty sure it was a memorable day for this young man and I know it was for Flaco. It’s certainly one I appreciated being a part of and watching the generations of fisherman continue thru their family.
