Trip Summary

Just finished up a couple days with an incredible family. The Peterson’s joined us from Utah while escaping the cold. It was dad and a combination of four of the kids. Their mission was billfish, so that’s what we set out to do. Day one proved to be a little slow on the bills finishing the day 2 for 2, but we had an outstanding bite on the meat fish with 3 Mahi all over 30# and 6 Yellowfin. Fortunately, they were already happy with the results, but we wanted to make sure everyone got their shot at a pointy one. After hearing from the private fleet that the bite had moved south, the plan for day two changed. We headed off 50 miles to fish off the Cano island. It’s a long run, but they were down for the ride and it was worth it. Day two resulted in going 5 for 8 on sails and expectations were met for both the Peterson’s and us. All of the kids got their first sail, Mahi, and tuna. Heath is an avid outdoorsman with an impressive game room at his home back in Utah. He will now be adding a Mahi and 110” Pacific Sail to his wall. I’m sure this will be a memorable trip for them. It sure will be for us. It seems we had some camera issues somewhere along the way, but here’s the best of what turned out.
