Trip Summary

Seas 2 Trees Outdoors fishing onboard the 36’ Yellowfin “Ace of Spades” in the last couple of weeks has been eventful in Key Largo. With the weather cooperating, calm seas have afforded most of us to run offshore to target swordfish, blackfin tunas, and Mahi-mahi. We are still getting many Mahi Mahi biting in between **hidden content** feet of water. It used to be that Mahi Mahi season peaked in Spring / Summer months but as of recently, the larger Mahi have been biting great into September. Now that the full moon is waning there have been an ideal scene for inshore fishing, reef, wreck, and Cubera Snapper fishing at night. The Yellowtail / Mangrove snapper bite has been consistent on the reefs between 45- 90 feet of water as long as the current is flowing. The smaller football Blackfin tuna are also showing up in **hidden content**' of water following the early fall bait run that has appeared with ballyhoo, finger mullets, and pilchards, thick on the outer reefs with plenty of hungry pelagics on the prowl! They all can be caught drift fishing live bait or trolling small feathers rigs. If you’re looking to get out on the water for a great time fishing or just need information / tips, please feel free to book or contact me or any of our great charter captains located here in the Florida Keys. We are all willing to help & truly love to share our knowledge of this amazing Keys fishery. Until the next fishing report, tight lines & bent rods! Fishing Report Key Largo to Marathon Mid March 2023 Hello fellow anglers from Seas 2 Trees Outdoors & aboard the Ace of Spades!! We hope 2023 has blessed you with great new-beginnings & happy travels! The March bite has been rewarding so far. We have been lucky to have Sailfish biting daily! Some days we are catching & releasing up to 12 beautiful, large sailfish. Captain Maurice’s favorite fishing by the way. We are catching the sailfish all over offshore. Wahoo fishing has been phenomenal these past few weeks, with most being caught either live bait fishing or high speed trolling. Additionally King Mackerel are along the outside edges of the reef down here, & they are ready to battle. We have been out late-night catching bait & filling up our live-wells with goggle eyes & pilchards to ensure endless bites for our charters! In regards to tasty eating fish, we have been catching many blackfin tuna, yellowtail snappers, king mackerel, & wahoo! Which we can filet beautifully for you to pack up your cooler or bring to your favorite restaurant to cook, like Angler & Ale, Hawks Cay. If you’re thinking of offshore fishing we encourage you to book the offshore trip to find Sailfish & varieties of Pelagics. Or if you want non-stop action with fishing pole in hand than maybe reef & wreck is the better trip for you; we encourage you to book this kind of trip to find yellowtail snappers, mutton snapper, & grouper. Whether you’re looking for an epic trophy sailfish bite or tasty fresh-catch to enjoy, Seas 2 Trees Outdoors is dedicated to finding you the fish you desire. Fishing Report Key Largo to Marathon Mid
Fishing Report Key Largo to Marathon Mid
Enero 13, 2023
Fishing Report Key Largo to Marathon Mid January 2023 Happy New Years to all from our wonderful Hawks Cay Resort location. Seas 2 Trees Outdoors fishing onboard the beautiful 36’ Yellowfin “Ace of Spades” over the holidays up till now has been spectacular in the Florida Keys, between Key Largo & Marathon. Just about everything is biting now on the reef / wrecks & offshore. The predominant bite offshore has been sailfish, wahoo, king mackerel & mahi-mahi or dolphin fish as we like to call them. Uncharacteristically for this time of year, we’ve been slamming the dolphins offshore between 120 feet - 300 feet while trolling wrecks looking for wahoo. For whatever reason they are showing up, I’m totally happy about it. The sailfish are here! They are around in good numbers between **hidden content** feet & we’ve been getting multiple releases a day. Most of them have been caught either kite fishing, slow trolling live bait or pitching live ballyhoo at bait showers. The king mackerel have been caught in the same manner as the sailfish. Like I said on my last report, it’s wahoo fishing time & onboard the Ace of Spades we’ve been catching them. Then bite has been up / down the outer edge of the reef & around the deep water wrecks between 115 feet - 250 feet of water. Trolling Normad plugs around 9 knots, high speed trolling lures with various size trolling weights & live bait fishing has been working for us. On the reefs & wrecks, the Yellowtail snapper / mutton bite has still been consistent on the reefs between 45- 90 feet of water. This is also the best time of year for patch reef fishing in the 20 - 40 feet depths. Big shout out to the CMOR mapping team for making it so easy to actually see the reef & wrecks we are fishing. If you don’t have this mapping yet, get it! The bigger yellowtails, mangrove snappers, spanish / cero mackerel bite has been insane on the patch reefs & it’s a great place to fish when the weather is a little to sporty offshore. As always, If you’re looking to get out on the water for a great time fishing or just need information / tips, please feel free to book or contact me or any of our great charter captains located here in the Florida Keys. We are all willing to help & truly love to share our knowledge of this amazing Keys fishery. Until the next fishing report, stay safe, tight lines & bent rods! Diciembre 15, 2022
Fishing Report Key Largo to Marathon Mid December 2022 Seas 2 Trees Outdoors fishing onboard the beautiful 36’ Yellowfin “Ace of Spades” in the last couple of weeks has been outstanding in the Florida Keys, between Key Largo & Marathon. The water is cooling down & the bite is in full swing on the reef / wrecks & offshore. The predominant bite offshore has been sailfish & blackfin tunas. The sailfish have finally been showing up in good numbers between **hidden content** feet & it’s only going to continue to get better as we get deeper into the season. We’ve been catching most of them slow trolling live bait & pitching live ballyhoo at bait showers. The blackfins are still super thick on the humps & it’s been nothing but pure fun! We are catching them in just about every way possible from trolling feathers, to live bait pilchards, to slow pitch jigging the Mobster! ( Captain Maurice’s secret weapon- try them) It’s also wahoo fishing time & I’ve been hearing of a few being caught. We onboard the Ace of Spades will actively start fishing for those hard fighting, tasty torpedoes throughout the holidays, so hopefully I’ll have something good to report on the next fishing report. On the reefs & wrecks, the Yellowtail snapper / mutton bite has still been consistent on the reefs between 45- 90 feet of water and on the deeper water wrecks in 100 plus feet. Also the Spanish, cero, & king mackerel bite has been insane on the patch reefs out to the deeper reefs. As always, If you’re looking to get out on the water for a great time fishing or just need information / tips, please feel free to book or contact me or any of our great charter captains located here in the Florida Keys.
