Trip Summary

DIDIER & STEVEN - DAY 4 We headed 36 miles offshore in search of Marlin today. It didn't take long before we had a Sailfish raise with Steven on the rod doing an awesome job to release his first ever Sailfish. Steven's first ever Marlin yesterday & his first Sailfish today. A nice reminder for us that we are in the 'dreams' business :-) We then found some trash as we have on our previous two offshore trips and the day changed instantly. We lost a Dorado on our first pass and then we caught a ton of small Yellow Fin Tuna, Bonito & Rainbow Runners. We only had a couple of 30lb class lines in the water as we were busy catching live bait when a nice Blue Marlin est 300lb came into the spread. We quickly deployed a Hawaiian (Island Express Lure rigged with a Ballyhoo) which we put right in front of him. The Marlin had a good look round for a while but we could not get him to eat this time! Taking to the other boats in the fleet, they had similar experiences today. Lots of raised Marlin but most not very aggressive. There is a lot of bait in the water which could explain why. We then set 3 Live Yellow Fins/Bonitos out and worked the area close to the trash. When the line popped from the outrigger & reel screamed we were certain it was another Marlin but then a Bull Dorado came leaping out of the water. Didier got in on the action landing his 3rd nice Dorado of 30lb+ in recent days. On the troll back to Quepos we seen another Blue Marlin free jumping out front. We worked the area for a while but could not raise him. Two days are remaining for Didier & Steven and Didier has put his Roosterfish quest on hold as he wants to chase the Marlin again tomorrow! With the great weather we have had this week and Moon fading we are hopeful a great bite is nearby. Stay tuned!!
