Trip Summary
Trip Summary
Fished with Duane and Terry on a 3/4 day (6hr) ICW charter. We fished late afternoon so we could catch the best (falling) tide. The fish were scattered so they got to see a lot of the area and we ended with some very good fish. First spot was all speckled trout - 2 keepers (18- 16.5") and some that didn't quite make the grade (the slot for specks is 15-20" with a generous 6 fish limit per person). The next couple of spots we fished 20 min and with no good fish moved. On the third-fourth spot we hit pay dirt with the redfish. We kept 4 slot (18-27") reds with some short reds and trout thrown in for good measure. The next few spots (where I normally catch a LOT of trout) were basically a sight seeing tour. The tide was dropping way out today and we went up a creek to fish the low slack. Again, game on with reds. Terry caught her biggest of the day at 26.5" here and there were a bunch of just barely short ones as well. The last spot was for fun fish - Jack Cravelle - along the South Jetty at the inlet. Fun, even if the wind had picked up to about 18-20 knots. We ended with 5 good redfish (just short of a boat limit) and 2 good speckled trout to clean and a lot of shorts and scenery. Good Trip All Around.
