Trip Summary
I am new to Fishingbooker.com but not new to fishing!
Fishing is outstanding right now! We caught multiple Red Snapper limits on every trip this week. We had 3 people fishing on one trip this weekend that caught over 40 snapper on a 4 hour bottom fishing trip. We caught multiple Red Snapper over 20 pounds and dozens of snapper in the 10-15 pound range this week. We caught nice King Mackerel on most trips using a drift line. We hung several fish on the drift line that we never slowed down. Broke one drift line rod this week due to a violent fish strike. Several boats in the area caught large Wahoo this week and the broken rod was likely due to a large Wahoo. We caught and released numerous Trigger Fish, several Amberjack and 3 undersized Cobia. We caught and viewed a couple of large rude Bull Sharks. Let's just say when they got close to the boat they decided they didn't like the boat and had to be somewhere else!
The back bay shrimping water opened on June 1st and the shrimp are very heavy right now. Most people are taking home 1-2 gallons of shrimp on two 15 minute pulls. The Bottle Nose Dolphins behind the shrimp net appear to be getting more than that! I allow the kids to hook up Gafftop Catfish when pulling in the shrimp net and they are having a blast hearing the drag pull on the spinning reel.
Night fishing the pier lights for Speckled Trout and slot Red Fish is outstanding and should be that way all summer.
Remember we specialize in taking families and kids fishing!
