Goal was a rooster and cubera. Unfortunately the rooster didn’t cooperate but that wasn’t for lack of trying.(nobody else caught any that day either) They made up for it by putting us on a really nice trophy size cubera. We caught several yellow tail snapper and Spanish mackerel as well. If a rooster isn’t a specific goal for you just skip it and head for the bottom fishing, there will be more action.

I based my choice of charters specifically from the reviews here and Jorge and mate proved to be a great choice. We caught 2 Mahi and 4 tuna plus a sailfish… a sailfish! I can’t say enough about how great the trip was. They were very knowledgeable about what bait to use and moved efficiently from targeting one species to the next. They never stopped moving, were fun loving, and kept the boat clean. I would not hesitate to book with them again.

It had been raining the night before and was still drizzling in Jaco that morning, He Jorge assured me it wouldn’t stop us so we set out at 10am. I had a girlfriend with me that had never been fishing or in rough sea so she was having a little anxiety on the way out. Once with hit calmer waters and she caught her first fish that all changed. We ended up catching 5 good size Spanish Mackerel and saw three humpback whale. The crew was amazing

Capt. Jorge was top notch! He helped from the beginning of the trip to the end. He started our half day out with trolling for Mahi as we hoped for and got a surprise Sailfish! Trolling for Mahi is not for the weak, it can take hours and moral can get low so please understand that with any charter as some of the people who left reviews don’t seem to understand.  Capt. Made sure we had fun and cared for the ones who got sea sick. We ended our half day of trolling with one Mahi so Jorge took us to a bottom fishing spot where we quickly filled the fish box with grouper, tile fish, snapper, and more, the best part is what we couldn’t take with us went to local people to help them out. Capt. Jorge was the reel deal and thats coming from someone who has mated charter boats in the US.

We did a half day trip and had an amazing time catching Crevalle Jack and Rooster fish.  The add only says they provide fruit but we were provided a variety of drinks and snacks.  Captain and deckhand were very helpful to my friends who are not avid fishermen.  Afterwards there’s couple restaurants with tables right on the sand that can prepare your catch and serve with sides for a fee(at the time one restaurant charged $15 and the other $20 per person for cooked fish + sides and one addition $ 15-20 for prepping a plate of sashimi.  One Jack was perfect for 4 people.  Overall a great experience.
