Amazing trip on the rusty hook. The boat was pretty easy to find. There is a small sandy path from the street to the beach, but once you walk 100ft you can see the boats tied up near shore. Locals were really nice to help guide my fiancé and I, but overall really easy to find. We stayed at the Mahekal resort just down the alleyway so it was close of a walk. Boat had plenty of snacks and drinks and small bathroom in the front. The captain and deckhand were awesome and extremely helpful. We fished for live bait the first 30 minutes or so and then started trolling on the way to bottom fish for grouper. We ended up trolling past a bunch of resorts and we hooked up on a solid grade wahoo about an hour 1/2 into the trip. Great fight, 3 min fight. Trolling rod was probably 80-130lb line, so this wahoo had no chance. We caught around 5 or so bonito and they were perfect for my girl to bring in. No grouper or amberjack bites on the bottom fishing but it was a great day with the rusty hook and I highly recommend them.
At the end of the trip, I took the wahoo to my resort and had them prepare the best sashimi, ceviche and grilled wahoo I’ve ever had. Highly recommend

We met Capt. Jorge and his 2 deckhands in the early afternoon of 30 Sept. After a discussion of species we wished to target, we decided to try trolling for the big fish and if that didn’t produce, we’d do some vertical jigging. We weren’t out long before we began to catch dorado. Over the course of the next 4 hours, we boated 11 dodos ranging from 10 - 22 pounds. The deckhands (Miguel and Neal(?)) worked hard keeping fresh bait in the water, clearing lines when we had fish on, and boating the fish, while Capt. Jorge trolled in search of game fish. We would definitely recommend Capt. Jorge!

Hi Dusty thanks for your comment,we hope to see soon. Regards,. Jorge
Capitan Jorge and son Neo couldn’t have been any better. Nice, friendly and just a joy to spend 6 hours on the water with. But best of all knew were the fish were. Great boat to be on; padded seats with back rest and plenty of places to hold on to in case of rough seas and this is speaking from experience! 6’ swells, 5-7 seconds apart, winds 14-17 mph and heavy rains on and off. 4 Mahi Mahi off of 14 strikes and 1 strike believed to be sailfish due to clean cut of the line. Definitely knew how to put fish in the box since there was only 2 of us, Cap and Neo had 5 lines in the water most of the trip.
Then after 4 hours we switched up for 40 mins and put 5 trigger fish in the box out of the 9 we caught. All good size but we through females back. Also, a great tasting fish. Even better then the Mahi.
No doubt we’d do Rusty Hook again if we’re back but highly recommend Jorge and Neo for anyone wanting to catch some fish!

Great day out on the water! Hope to see you fishing with us again soon..
These guys are awesome!
We went out at a slow time of year (early March) hoping to find some bigger fish trolling. Captain Jorge did inform us at the beginning of the trip that trolling had been slow & it might not work out. We decided to give it a good try for 2 hours first thing and then regroup if it didn’t work out. We struck out trolling but immediately got into a good triggerfish bite once we switched gears and they were a lot of fun to catch and there was a ton of them. We caught somewhere around 12-15 triggerfish and kept 5 to eat. We decided to go for a hail mary and troll on our way back to shore for the last hour with no luck.
These guys are great and know what they are doing, the boat has a lot of space and was comfortable. The only reason I wouldn’t book with them in the future would be if I were spending up on a charter with a bigger boat that can run way off shore to some of the ledges where there are higher concentrations of big game fish, otherwise I will definitely book with them again!

Trigger fish are excellent eating fish, how did you cook them? My favorite is on the grill!
We met at the beach easy on/off access with good parking the crew was excellent and very accommodating. The Captain new right w we re to go and was on top of the fish with in 30 minutes of leaving the shoreline. The first 54” Amber Jack was on the boat in an hour and the other 4 along with a barracuda and multiple tuna ( not the big ones) more a bait fish but fun to catch. We will be booking another trip with The Rudy Hook this June for Marlin & Sailfish because I’m sure they will put us right onto the fish for Great Wall hanging conversation pieces. Raymond Estes
