We caught 6 skipjack tuna during our 3 hour trip… seas got a bit rough so we headed in. Saw the dorsal fin and chased down a marlin but it wasn’t biting. All in all it was a successful trip on a day the other boats were reporting no catches at all. Would have been nice to have Hook and Cook recommendations as our resort wouldn’t do that for us. That would have made 5 stars all around! Thanks Juan Carlos for a great day.
The boat/equipment is a bit old, but if you just wanted to fish like I did, it’s the ALMOST perfect private trip (needs a canopy shade). I was amazed that the small boat was able to handle the choppy ocean water. The engine stalled out a few times but was able to restart immediately. The rod I used had broken/repaired spools however everything worked fine. We searched unsuccessfully for Mahi and Snapper all morning but was able to land small Rockfish, Bonita, Skipjack and a few other species (all under 5lbs) throughout the day. The captain did everything he could to better our chances of landing something great. Overall, I had an awesome time and would only recommend to folks who enjoy some old-fashioned-fishing but most importantly, for those who DO NOT get sea sick.

The ship itself looked like it needed a cleaning and the rods were not at all new. However, everything worked just fine. Excellent for the price. We caught sea bass and a lemon shark. My fishing companion had a decent size Mahi hooked. We saw it jump out of the sea twice but even though I could see it as he was reeling in, he lost it wiyhin 10 ft. of the boat. Overall it was a very fun shore excursion.
Captain Pedro/Peter was friendly but very lazy. The coordinator Juan Carlos Mesa is not a captain he is only the coordinator, he was short upon our meeting was only concerned with taking my money. His listing on fishing booker is outdated and he asked for more fees than the listing showed. We didn’t go out as far as any of the other boats. When I asked about this Pedro said I didn’t pay for enough gas. Very rude.
No radio, no gps, no fish finder. Very unsafe to not have a radio to communicate with other boats/coast guard. Very dis organized boat.
Lazy captain. Pedro/Peter was friendly and funny but clearly out for an easy day not worried about finding fish to catch. Other similar sized boats that day all caught plenty of Mahi Mahi and even a few striped marlin.
I paid $240usd in total for a 5 hr am trip on a 23’ panga. I tipped $60usd even after not catching fish. We paid $20 per person for fishing license to Juan Carlos and did not receive them. (Last time I fished in Cabo the license was $15 and I received a paper license). I’m sure Juan Carlos pocketed the money.
Lazy, poorly motivated, and unsafe equipment. Do not recommend.
