I can’t imagine we’ll be talking about anything more than our fishing experience with Captain Willie when asked about our trip to Belize. The boat and Captain Willie came to the hotel dock which was extremely convenient. I will admit, I like order and safety and I really appreciated how well organized Captain Willie was. He is experienced and clearly capable. We caught a lot of fish, mostly from the last spot…we were determined! I’m a novice and I ended up feeling confident in how to hook and reel in a snapper mid way through. By far the highlight of our time was the fish feast. Low key Captain Willie can whip up an incredible meal! One of the things that I appreciated was that I didn’t feel like I was being entertained, but that I was with a professional. This wasn’t a glitzy excursion, it was an absolutely perfect fishing experience with a meal and snorkeling that were like a cherry on top.

We had an awesome time. The beautiful water, reefs, and scenery was beyond our expectations. We drew a windy day but captain Wilford Leslie had a plan and we were able to bring in plenty reef snapper and a couple of Spanish Mackerels. He is a native to the island and a wealth of information about the area. I highly recommend using him as a guide. He brought us to a beach after fishing and prepared the days catch on the boat for lunch. It was nothing short of 4 star fare. We ended the day on a snorkel by the reef and was rewarded with swimming with a couple of sea turtles and unbelievable reef fish. Thank you Willie for a truly memorable day,

Two of us went out with Willie. He was right on time, hustled to net some sardines, and out to the fishing grounds we went. Caught a number of mutton snapper and a couple of yellowtail snapper ending the morning on an isolated beach, where he expertly prepared fresh ceviche, BBQ fish with his special spices, saffron rice and grilled potatoes. Delicious. Then off to beautiful snorkeling where he jumped in and guided us to see a whale shark, a number of large rays, and many fish on the reef. He did everything himself and is a native Belizian with kindness and great stories too. Highly recommend!

William was fantastic with our family of six - kids 15, 13, 11 and 9. He kept them all baited and everyone caught something. Some of them crushed it, leading to an awesome haul of various snapper. William happily cut what we wanted into filets and separated for our lunch and dinner. Excellent restaurant recommendations for ‘you catch we cook.’ (Highly recommend Cool Beans for fish tacos with your catch!) William also met us at our hotel dock to make life easier on the kids and give an early start on the day. Everyone was happy!

Great trip! Willie our captain was awesome. Kind, helpful and informative on the history and culture of the island. The fishing was good. Ee did the half day reef excursion. We caught a bunch of different varieties! My wife came along and was very appreciative of the large shade canopy. We would definitely come back and Fish with Willie again!
