Our day started at 5:30am. Patrice asked us to arrive earlier in order to catch the better weather (it was very windy the morning/nights before). We sailed out to sea and began fishing. We were also at the spot early enough to not be overwhelmed by other boats. We had it all to ourselves for a good hr or 2. The lures and rods are set up for you and once a bite is made, either my wife or I stepped in the reel in the catch. We caught 4 fish in total (3 tuna, 1 dorado). Patience is needed when fishing. Only down side was the choppy waters had my wife puking over the side of the boat a couple times (she gets motion sickness easy). All in all, it was a great day and a great experience. Enjoyed our time very much and would recommend anyone else for this trip!!

A pleasure to see the nice pictures, wish you both the very best.
Overall extremely happy with the day out.
Pros - Very knowledgable captain and crew - deployed tactics and changed accordingly when not going to plan. (Dorado weren’t biting so switched to trawling with lures at speed which yielded success) - 2X fish I’ve never caught in my life. 15kg bonito (skipjack probably) and ~10 kg yellowfin tuna - unforgettable day
Cons - Yellowfin was filleted by crew member while on way to beach. Meant I couldn’t get a clean photo with the fish and also caused logistical problems for me (below). Avoidable if communication was better. - Early departure (6am) from mont choisy meant there was no time to go to cash machine. I agreed to meet at the pier and no cash machine there. So I had to get cash out at trou aux biches which meant I had to go to cash machine and give money via punt. I then had to walk 2km back to hotel in sun with fish. ( no taxi would take half filleted fish!) All avoidable but I feel worth mentioning. - Said the fish caught was a bonito and not good for eating but looks like a skipjack tuna to me.
Would definitely recommend and do again but be explicit about who takes home the fish. I shared half the yellowfin as only wanted to eat. Didn’t get a chance to try skipjack / bonito.

Hi Dan, FYI bonito is the common name for skipjack tuna. I’ll never tell you to eat something that I won’t eat myself and I assure you that you missed nothing.Thank you for your review, I will look forward to avoid such situation in the future .Hope to see you again, best regards.
Fantastic trip, very knowledgeable captain and great time aboard. Saw hundreds of dolphins and landed a 43.5kg yellowfin in Feb 2022.
Starting at 5.30 in the morning Captain Patrice and his helping hand picked us up and drove into the open sea. After some trolling, the baits were about to switch and while retrieving the baits, we got two hits by Marlin. One who was hooked. And then the awesome drilling of over 1.5h began. With the great help of Patrice and his helper, a Black Marlin of approximately 2.5m and 80kg could be finally landed. Thanks for this unique opportunity and experience!!! And special thanks to Patrice’s helper who did a great job, drilling when I was overwhelmed and exhausted!!

You are welcome, I hope you’ll enjoy a max your stay in Mauritius, best wishes for the future.
Sabine
