My boys (9 & 10), and I went on a fishing trip with Captain Terry on 7/1/2019. We are pretty avid fishermen from Wyoming. This trip fully exceeded my expectations. What a great trip and a great knowledgeable fisherman Captain Terry is! He put us on fish all day! My boys had a blast and Terry took great care of the boys. I can’t say enough good things about Captain Terry. Truly one of a kind. We had a blast! Would definitely book this trip again!
I’m glad you and the boys had a great time as I did as well. You can tell you’ve spent time taking them fishing, it shows in there catch. Tight lines Captain Terry
We had a fantastic day fishing with Captain Terry! Caught plenty of whiting to take home, some stingrays, a sheepshead, and (my favorite) a small bonnethead shark! The trip was more than worth the price, and Captain Terry even let us stay out a couple hours past our time since we got off to a bit of a slow start. So much fun, we will definitely be back!
Thanks Anna for the great review. Hope to see y’all soon.
Another great day on the water with Captain Terry. Prior to the trip, I had talked to friends who had fished Galveston in the days preceding our trip and knew that fishing had been tough. Terry had several places he predicted the fish to be given the circumstances, and indeed, each place we stopped yielded a few fish. With trout, redfish and flounder in the box, my brother in law and I had more than enough bags of filets to return home with! Thank you Captain Terry for another great time on the bay.

Thanks Dr. Mike for the good review. You know I hate the grind so if it’s not hot then we move. A few fish at each spot ends up good too. Till next time tight lines Captain Terry.
If you are looking for a big new boat and high end rod and reels—Captain Terry is probably not your charter. However, if you want a knowledgeable guide that will work hard to help you catch fish—Captain Terry should be your charter. He is a best value. His main goal is to have his customers catch as many fish as they possibly can. His boat is smaller and older, but fast, durable, safe, and very versatile. He is willing to adapt techniques to increase the odds of the individual catching fish. Our day started out with a change from the bay to the jetty (no additional charge) due to current fishing reports. We were put on the bite, but could not hook the fish. Captain Terry changed the rigging and I ended up catching a 19 inch sheepshead. We tried a while longer without any more luck. We tried several other spots without any bites. We saw a few sites of interest and returned to the jetty for the afternoon bite. Where we caught several more sheepshead. My grandson and I ended up catching 6 sheepshead From 16 to 19 inches. Thank you Captain Terry for not letting me give up. My grandson had a blast making the trip worth it.

Well you summed it up very well, but let me clarify so points. I’m older possibly wiser than younger fisherman and do things a certain way for a reason. The older models of Mako were built better than now and a 20 foot Mako like mine can go in both bays and jetties no matter how high the seas are safely.Larger boats can fish the jetties but can’t fish the bays and on 50% of the time bay boats can’t safely fish the jetties. My boat has a power pole, Bob’s jack plate, Lenco trim tabs all 2017 and an E-Tec engine that is a 2018. As far as rod/reels I use newer equipment but less expensive. I broke a rod on our trip and if that happened on a $200 rod your guide and your trip would be upset. If you broke it or dropped it over board he would most likely want you to pay for it. I don’t punch a clock for someone and if there is an afternoon bite I will continue to fish even after your trip is technically ended. Two days later with Gene and Tim we caught 25 fish and limited out on Sheepshead, (I posted there photo) that’s fishing, some days are better than others. I felt your assessment and with my reply will help others know if I’m the right fit for what they want in a trip and Thank you for taking the time to write a very informative review.

Capt. TERRY was a knowledgeable guide
Tony I’m sorry that the trip didn’t net us more fish. A little background is necessary, we had a strong 20mph sustained winds and I couldn’t get to some places without us getting soaked. That with a low tide left me with few choices to fish. That being said Feb. is the toughest month to fish and I only take a handful of trips all this month. When fishing is tough I normally stay out longer without charging extra to the customer. Your trip was an evening trip and we could only stay till dark. I would love to try again in the Spring, Fall or Summer. We’ll keep fishing till your satisfied, just book an AM trip. Sincerely Captain Terry
