First of all, Captain Jamey was very nice, we enjoyed our day with him. The value of the trip was in that this was a family outing and we got to spend time together, however we could have done that in many fashions without spending hundreds of dollars.
1. We had to stop at the Destin wharf to get ice and live bait (but there was no live bait available). We settled for frozen bait and lost time getting to our fishing destination (which did not matter, see next point). This was an underhand pitch, this should have been prepared before we got to the boat to avoid this stop. From the perspective of the consumer the only possible outcomes here are a neutral (we took an extra stop, but we got the live bait which equals catching fish) or a negative experience, which happened with us. In addition, it is a first impression, those are hard to overlook. 2. We did not catch any fish that we could keep. We caught a lot of rockfish. We felt that there should have been some expertise here. Whether that is going to a new spot, fishing a different depth, calling other captains and finding out where the fish are, to name a few. 3. The cost of the trip balanced up against items #1 and #2 above would lead us to not recommend this trip to anyone.
