Worst trip ever. Captain was unprofessional and rude. Drove the boat like a psychopath with my 6 year old child on board. Definitely needs to retire. Would not recommend him or his services to my worst enemy. He has forgotten what the purpose of the word fishing guide means.
I have never done this before but have a major complaint about Justin Holland on today’s charter.
His father and grandfather were great people, however!!!! First, he would not stop playing with a rod and reel while we were trolling umbrella rigs…9 hooks per rig and 4 lines out. He was bouncing a rig up and down in the water while we were under power because his daughter wanted to play with it. Eventually he completely trash the reel, had to bring in home. Second, running the boat I said loudly “there is fish on, get the rod out of the rod holder” (so they would not lose the fish). After a few minutes he picked up the rod. Then he claimed I was yelling at him, he lost the fish and sat in the front of the boat sulking the rest of the day. I apologize and said I was not yelling at him just alerting someone there was a fish on, he would not acknowledge. Next his wife had a fish on for the second time, the first time I told her not to reel it all the way to the top because the line could break (I know she heard me), the second time I raised my voice as she reel it all the way to the tip of the rod dangling the fish out of the water “Don’t raise it to the top”, I said, he claimed I was yelling at her, i was not and told her I was not and if she thought that I apologize. I did not want to lose the fish and an $85 rig. Then he tried to tell me how to drive the boat. The boat is 24 foot with a 300 hp outboard. To get it on plane it must run 25 to 30 miles an hour, that is not fast. Apparently he wanted to troll back to the dock for over 5 miles. That would have taken over 2 hours. I did get mad and tell him it was my boat and I would go as slow as we could on plane, about 25 miles and hour. They got back to the dock, they left the fish and did not pay…..not even for gas. Worst experience of my life. They stiffed me after the 4 hour trip and they had their limit of big fish. Even his father said lets just fish don’t let it bother you.
Apparently he had a bad morning or evening and took it out on me. Never in 26 years of guiding have I had an experience with arrogant people like them.

Guy is a jerk really. Yelling at all other boaters, making it awkward to be associated with him. Paid $475 for 3 of us to catch 3 fish total. He did offer half off next trip, but I believe for that price we should have had a free trip. Doesn’t respond well to messages leading up to the trip. Honestly not sure how he continues to have customers. Would not recommend.
Well this took me by surprise. Yelling at all other boaters: I did yell at a bass boat about 50 feet in front of me to move back as a courtesy so I could get into my slip. The boat that was blocking my slip and it was not close enough to whisper. Yes we only boated 3 fish but not mentioned was the 5 fish they lost trying to horse the into the boat. Does respond to messages. I responded to every message he sent. He is probably referring to getting lost in the marina. Send a text message rather than call. I sent him directions, very simple directions when he booked the trip. Not sure what his problem is, but when they showed up I told them fishing was tough. They said they only wanted big fish. I told them the fish were spawning and only smaller box fish were being caught. I suggested they come back in June if they wanted big fish, but they proceed to fish. I can not, nor can any guide, guarantee you will catch fish. If they won’t bite, they will not bite. I did offer them as second trip for a fee to cover expenses, but at this point and after this review, that I am sure would not be wise. I have plenty of feedback to show what I am really like. I am not sure what in writing this review.
