Booked a private charter with Captain Gerald during our vacation to Playa de Coco in 2022. Gerald put my friend and I on the mahi-mahi shortly after we drove a few miles offshore. We hooked 5 mahi that were over 20 lbs Gerald did an excellent job cleaning our catches after caught them. On the way back to shore, we managed to hook a large sailfish while trolling jigs. That sailfish was the biggest fish I have caught in my life. It is easy to say that this was the most successful/fun fishing charter I have been on.
The staff were polite and friendly. Roy, took the time to sit down with us and socialize while we enjoyed eating our fresh mahi fillets that were prepared at the El Chiringuito Restuarant.

My wife and I had a fantastic time out on the water. The boat has fantastic amounts of shade. Gerald the captain, well, the guy knows how to fish, and it’s clear he loves to fish. The boat was extremely well organized, the gear fantastic, and the selection of prerigged ballyhoo and lures was fantastic. Gerald worked his ass off changing baits as we trolled over different territories. This is a professionally run outfit run by really nice people who love their work.
If you want to have a great time on a great small boat with a great captain and people who obviously care about your experience than this is the boat for you. If you need a larger boat for more people their other boat will suit you well.
Don’t hesitate to book these folks and your shot of catching that elusive blue Marlin, or a blue Dorado, Booking these folks will increase your odds over other boats in the fleet down here.
If you are debating going out between flamingo and tamarindo, tamarindo is closer to the grounds and you spend a lot less time paying for travel. Do it in your car.

We did a private half day trip during our honeymoon and had an amazing time! I’d highly recommend doing the 3/4 or full day if you’re looking to catch the bigger fish as you need time to get our further in the ocean but we had a blast as we were looking to catch some fish to eat and ended up with 3 good size ones by the end of the day and they were delicious cooked at home! Gerald was great in making sure that we caught something and was a super pro at knowing where to go and setting expectations of what we might catch.
Really enjoyed our time and would highly recommend to anyone!

We did the seven hour trip. I’ve fished in a several countries and had high expectations for Costa Rica 🇨🇷, basically we trolled for seven hours ( trying to find signs of dolphins or tuna) with hardly any action. Maybe the techniques are different here, but with my previous experiences I watched the characters maximize ALL options to put you on this fish, however I didn’t feel like this was the case with this trip. Next time I’ll do more DD before I come back to Costa Rica

If people ask to do bottom fishing or casting we are happy to oblige but these later forms of fishing are not normally as productive. Gerald always tries very hard to get as many fish as possible as you will see from all other reviews of this boat and this captain. I’m sorry the trip didn’t live up to your expectations but Geralds 28 years experience on this boat has been extremely productive. I’m glad at least you caught a mahi mahi and a wahoo and had something for the table. Tight lines. Roy.
