Booked Leverdrag Charters for my sons 7th birthday and went with my dad and nephew.

The weather was pretty unpredictable with showers on and off and he gave me a call the night before so we could make a game plan for the next morning. He sent a message early the morning of, confirming we are still good to go.

Waters were super choppy and half the boat got nauseous so he rerouted his course for us to calmer areas.

The new location proved to be a good one and we owe it to the captain’s expertise for finding us a great spot where we caught many fish! Capt Joe was kind and great with the kids and overall enjoyable to have leading the day.

We made a morning 4 hour trip with Captain Joe and had a lot of fun catching several meals of Spanish Mackerel (which by the way are great eating) and releasing a bunch more back into the Atlantic. Captain Joe was very accommodating to me and my son and daughter and I personally enjoyed the conversation and also the friendly banter amongst Joe and his fishing buddies over the radio. These guys work hard to get their guests on fish and Captain Joe certainly didn’t disappoint in our first charter fishing experience. He also kept a pulse on the weather in the days leading up to our trip and even encouraged us to reschedule one day earlier to have a bit calmer water which was very much appreciated for this “dry-lander” and his family. My son and I came from Syracuse to visit my other son for a couple days and scheduled a trip for a Saturday morning.  Mother Nature didn’t cooperate for the day we scheduled and Cpt. Joe worked it out so we were able to get out before we left.  We caught fish and had a great time.  He’s an outdoorsman like us so we had great conversation and he made us feel right at home.  I’ve gone out twice now, once with Cpt. Joe and once with one of his buddies and would highly recommend him and anyone he is affiliated with.

Captain Joe welcomed us northerners aboard to experience ocean fishing for the first time. He was patient and taught us about the equipment, how to handle it and helped us bring in enough fish to take home to enjoy after our vacation! He was great with the kids, as well as us adults, showing us a great morning of fishing. We bought in Spanish mackerel and blue fish. Next time, we want to catch a shark!
