As a “thank you” for arranging a last minute vacation, my family wanted to let me get in a little fishing before we headed back to Northern VA.  My daughter’s actually like saltwater fishing - so long as there is lots of action - so we settled on a late afternoon shark trip.  Found Capt. Jon and Black Dog via search and reviews, and was rewarded with a great evening on the water pulling in a wide range of sharks and rays (catch and release). 

Dock is easy to find, boat is fast, clean and comfortable, and Capt. Jon had both the tackle and the knowledge of where to go to keep to have a great afternoon of fun. Capt. Jon had patience with the inexperienced members, and tips for the more experienced—and he’s just a great guy too.  The highlight was hooking a 7 foot bull shark on 30lb test; took 30 minutes and pulling anchor to chase him, and will never forget getting that amazing creature to the surface before he flipped his tail once, broke the leader, and headed back down. 

Some tips: 1) Bring your own drinks; Capt. J has a great cooler for your stuff and 2) Let him know if you want him to bring the dogs—it’s named Black Dog for a reason, and it’s even more fun out there with two experienced fisherdogs on the boat!
