I paid for, as listed on fishbooker, 2010 58’ oceans supersport - 8hr grouper & snapper specifically stated in listing “deep water” & “fully credentialled” vessel. (main reason for this large of a boat was comfort for my parents)
Was told by “Captain Ron”, the charter operator not the captain, the 58’ vessel is not premitted for deep water. How is this 58’ vessel offering another charter option for a deep drop/troll in 100’-150’ of water if it is not permitted for deep water?
Ron told me he had a premium 48’ sportfish that was permitted and we could catch grouper and snapper on. Then sent me pictures of 4 different boats to make it impossible to know what I was getting.
The vessel we recieved was a 1986 46’ Bertram (not close to what was expected or discussed) and I was asked to pay extra $250 for fuel not discussed prior to the trip. (Ron said thats what the preimium part meant, although undefinded in the email or phone discussions) We did not go over on time or distance as I watched the chartplotter the entire trip.
I am a local here in South Pasadena, FL and fish charter boats often with the actual captains of the charters. The actual Captain & mate of this vessel that took us out were absolutley fantastic. My issues are solely with the bait and switch and purposful vagueness from Ron at Fishhawk chaters.
My opinion is find a charter that is directly with the captain and not a charter operator/broker (aka. salesman).
