First, we started by booking a morning trip that the day prior they called to say they had double booked and therefore we were moved to 2pm instead. No worries.
We were a family of 5. Mom booked the trip and was not once offered or given a pole to fish at any point on the trip, yet the captain had a pole in the water the entire time! They did more of the fishing and then when something was booked they let the kids reel it in. Dad was very rarely fixed a pole to fish and again mom was never offered one.
Now they did bait a hook and then say who wants it, and us parents never spoke up, because ultimately we wanted our kids to be able to fish above all and they needed poles too! But at the end of the day, we were a party of 5 and all 5 of us did not fish.
I definitely have a chatty 12 year old boy, and the captain never entertained any of his questions or carried conversation with any of us. Everything was cut and dry with one word responses.
While on the boat, a monster fish was hooked and that was fun for everyone.
The other guy on the boat, Stephen, he was much better and helped my kids tremendously. He even carried on a little bit of conversation.
Once we ended the trip and they cleaned our fish, we were only given a slim part of meat from the catch. He sent us on our way and continued to clean the rest of the fish.
I would like to think maybe the captain was just over exerted for the day, considering they were double booked and had been on the water for 10 hours by the end of our trip.
