What to Catch and When to Target it

Mahi Mahi, Barracuda, Red Snapper, and Sailfish inhabit the waters surrounding Fujairah all year round. Black, Blue, and Striped Marlin become more numerous from March through November, peaking between June and September. Your chances of landing a Yellowfin Tuna are best in July and August, though they begin to appear as early as May.

How to Fish

Deep sea fishing in Fujairah involves many tricks and subtleties that local captains have perfected over the years. Chasing after Mahi Mahi alone could have you casting live baits, popping, deep jigging, or trolling lures and feathers.

Trolling will help you land Sailfish and Marlin. Sailfish are likely to go for live bait (small Goggle Eyes) or soft-headed lures rigged with strip baits and soft teaser birds. Meanwhile, you can entice a Marlin by slow trolling with live bait (Bonito, Tuna) or trolling with lures such as Billfish teasers.

Yellowfin Tuna are active around the oil tankers both at day and at night. Local captains recommend jigging, spooning, and live bait fishing while targeting Yellowfin. Trolling squids or casting small metallic spoons may help you land a Longtail Tuna.

You can catch Amberjack by jigging in deep water (350-600 feet), where you will also be able to vertical jig for Red Snapper. Threadfin Trevally can be caught in various depths of water using a slow pitch jigging technique.

Barracuda is likely to bite while you are trolling with lures and live bait or while deep jigging for other species.
