Pesca con Mosca Fishing in Canadá
Canada is a huge country that offers anglers the chance to reel in majestic fish surrounded by breathtaking nature. The only thing better than fishing in Canada is fly fishing here! Book a fishing trip from June to October and you’ll be able to see for yourself why anglers from far and wide make the pilgrimage here each year.
What to Catch
Once you’ve chosen an area, there’s plenty of species to target. You’ll probably come for the Salmon, but you’ll stay for all the other choices! Target species include Trout, Walleye, Pike, and Char.
Fly Fishing Trips in Canada
You’ll find a trip to suit you no matter your budget or how far you want to travel. If you’re located in the States, head up to the Great Lakes and get a taste of Canadian fly fishing without waiting in line at the border (don’t forget your passport!). Or, drive the family up to a cabin in Canada and fish one of the many lakes and rivers.
Want to really get off the beaten track? Book yourself a fly-in fishing trip and venture deep into Canada’s wilderness aboard a bush plane. You’ll stay in a lodge with a handful of other dedicated anglers and fish to your heart's content. Note that remote fishing trips predominantly focus on catch and release fishing.
There’s so many places to choose from. British Columbia offers anglers the opportunity to catch all 5 species of Pacific Salmon. Haida Gwaii is great for lodges and getting back to nature. Hudson Bay has huge Char and for the best Walleye head to Rainy Lake, Detroit River, and plenty more. For Steelhead, Fraser River is the most popular, but you can also head to Columbia and Skeena River.
Each province in Canada has its own rules and regulations. Once you’ve decided where to go, you’ll need to buy a provincial freshwater fishing license and additional stamps for specific species. Be aware of local rules on fish limits and size, which can change yearly – your guide will know the most up-to-date information.
How to Prepare
Included in the price of most fishing trips are fly fishing rods and reels. Bringing your own? You’ll need to match your rod to the species you’re targeting. Pike will need a rod anywhere from 7–10 wt, whereas Salmon are great on an 8 wt rod, and Trout can be caught on a 6 wt rod. When choosing which rod to bring, always take into account the fly size needed and any obstacles from where you’ll be fishing.
Waders are not usually provided – ask your guide before if these can be rented or whether you should bring your own. Canadian hospitality is known worldwide, so food and drinks are normally provided on all trips.
Charter a fly fishing trip in Canada for an incredible vacation away from the concrete jungle. It doesn’t get better than this!
