It should come as no surprise that Lake Charles is often called “The Lake Area.” It’s surrounded by fresh and brackish waters that are, best of all, fantastic for fishing! Lake Charles fishing charters won’t just take you out on its namesake waters, you’ll also get to explore Prien Lake and the bountiful Calcasieu River.
You’ll catch similar fish in both Lake Charles and Prien Lake. These include the inshore favorites that Louisiana is so well-known for – Redfish, Trout, Flounder, and Black Drum. Head to the upper stream of the Calcasieu River and you can take advantage of the bustling Bream and Spotted Bass population. In the middle stretch of river, Catfish, Largemouth Bass, and Crappie reign supreme.
The waters surrounding Lake Charles are great for both beginners and experienced anglers. A half day trip is a great way for newbies to pick up new skills and go home with a few fish. A full day trip gives you ample time to hook the “Big Three” or try out more complex fishing techniques, like fly fishing.
As you may already know, Lake Charles is often referred to as the gambling capital of the region. To accommodate that, plenty of local captains offer pick-up from the local casinos. If you came here specifically to get your fish on, a great place to start your charter boat search is along the eastern shores of Lake Charles, or further north in the Calcasieu River.
Reglas & Regulaciones
Before stepping aboard a Lake Charles fishing charter, make sure to pick up a Louisiana Fishing License for all anglers of over the age of 16. If you’ll be targeting saltwater species south of Louisiana’s “saltwater line,” you’ll also need to purchase a Louisiana Saltwater License.
