During April the Walleye flood into the Detroit River on their annual spawning run creating world-class fishing opportunities for anglers. This is a seasonal opportunity so book early. For these species, you’re likely to jig using light tackle which will be provided. There is a technique to this type of fishing and instructions and coaching will be provided by the Captain.

You’ll be welcome aboard a custom 19’ Sylvan aluminum fishing boat with space for 3 passengers. This boat is equipped with a wireless trolling motor which is critical to keep the fishing lines vertical while jigging. Your captain will provide rods and reels. Live bait is available, minnows will be provided but not always required.

Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local Michigan fishing license for everyone in your group. Since this trip is on the Detroit River it is possible to fish in Canadian waters. If your group would like to fish in Canada then a Canadian fishing license is required. This information is available online, or you can ask the captain. It is common to catch Musky and Sturgeon while fishing for Walleye however these species will need to be released.

It’s never a bad idea to bring bottled water, sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
