Destin can get a little chilly during the winter but we still get plenty of days where the sun pops out and it feels great. No matter what the conditions, though, fish gotta eat! We target redfish, speckled trout, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, pompano, black drum, and flounder during the winter months using both live bait and artificial lures.

Bay fishing in Destin has been great the past few weeks. We are getting into a bunch of different species including redfish, speckled trout, spanish mackerel, mangrove snapper, flounder, blue fish, and black drum. Most of our fishing is with live bait casting in shallow water but we are also getting some fish on artificial lures including some big jack Krvel weighing over 20 pounds. The temps are red hot and so is the fishing! We are still getting into speckled trout, redfish, mangrove snapper, spanish mackerel, bluefish, flounder, and a few other bay species. Fishing in Destin is pretty solid right now. There are good numbers of trout and mangrove snapper. Redfish can be a little more tricky to locate but there are still plenty on the flats to catch. We are primarily using a number of different live bait rigged on a knocker rig. Sometimes we are flylining live bait and that has been the ticket for trout when they are being finicky.i
