The spawn is in full swing on lake Fork and the big ones are biting. Big fish of the year is now 12lb 6oz

Welsh is a power plant lake so water is warm for this time of year, 70’s degrees. Trying to keep my boat in 9ft-12ft of water, main lake. Most fish come off drop shot. Wacky rig and weightless flukes caught fish much easier to fish in all the grass. Punching with 3/4oz-1oz tungsten weight can catch bigger fish. I run mostly lews rod and reels with sufix line and vmc hooks.

The winter crappie bite is on fire!!

The crappie fishing is insane right now. Ended every crappie trip with limits since December 1st! The bite is holding steady so now is the time to fill the freezer with fresh crappie fillets

Welsh is a power plant lake not a whole lot of size but a good fun place to go catxh numbers of fish ended up boating over 30 fish. Wacky rig with googan lunker log in baby bass wuth 1/2 nail weight was the bait of choice on 12lb fluoro. Fishing the out side of grass. Lake fork can be a very tough place to fish this time of year with there being so much bait moved up shallow. Im fishing baits we feel the most confident in this time of year. Wacky rig, shakey head, in green pumpkin colors. Rapala DT-6 shad patter crank bait. Berkley bullet pop shad patterns. Working them in the stumps no deeper than 6ft. Fall Fishing East Texas

We were fushing a small east texas grass lake. Foucing on moving baits missile 3/8oz white swim jig with berkley grass pig white around submerged grass on points and docks popping the jig out of there grass. We also was using 3 types of topwaters berkley drift walker and berkley choppo in white color slow retrieve. 3rd is a terminator 2 1/2 popping frog blue gill color in the grass pause in the opens. Using lews rod and reels with sufix fluoro, mono and braid line. Due to the cold front and heavy winds slowing way down has been our best friend. Get a guide! They will help you understand the lake .and get on fish. If you take your boat on Lake Fork for the 1st time...beware of stumps. Be VERY careful when you leave the boat lanes.

Not use to a bunch of county roads that were covered with trees, I'm from Lubbock; but everything you need is there, Stay at one of the two main Lake Resorts, good Italian restaurant just block from them.

Decide if you want big bass or just a lot of bass. If you want big bass then you will not catch many and you need to be prepared for just a couple at best. If you want a lot of bass make that known ahead of time. If you want a lot of fish period then go for crappie.
