Had a pretty good trip with Jose’s crew.
We got into some fish including a Jack, a couple snappers, bonito, small bass and a “skinny fish” (which i think was a type of sergeant fish).
It was a little slow getting into some of the larger fish but once we started dropping live bait the bite picked up.
We went with my wife and three kids. I probably would have opted for a little bigger boat for the five of us. This is better suited for 2-3 people who are actively fishing.
The equipment could have been better. Once we started fishing a reef, which my kids were more excited for than lure fishing, we ended up sharing 2 rods between the 5 of us. We got a third rod, but the crew didn’t have enough weight on board to really use it effectively to drop the bait, which was disappointing.
The crew prepared ceviche with our “skinny fish” which was delicious. We took the jack, snappers, bonito and bass to a local restaurant (Ricardo’s) and they did a great job preparing.
We did try to snorkel at the end of the trip. If you’re looking for a snorkeling trip, I would probably book a snorkel tour, particularly with kids. The equipment wasn’t that great for kids and we ended up bagging it and heading in.
Overall, a fun trip, but definitely better for a few people than a family of 5.
