The species you’ll have the chance to reel in include Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and many more. You can cast at mangroves, docks, and other structure in order to attract them, using light tackle. Most fish caught in the Indian River Lagoon put up a hard fight, but are either inedible or catch and release due to regulations. Your best bet for edible fish is mangrove snapper and sheepshead (certain times of the year). Please let your captain know what your goal is and he will do his best to accommodate. Also, kids are welcome to join aboard, so use the opportunity and make your trip a wonderful family stay in nature.
