Our half day trip with Capt Matt was great.  Easy to find the boat, nice and easy going Capt that knew how to put us on the fish, and once we found them…it was on!  My family had an awesome time and my aunt ended up with a pig of a Sand Bass and some calicos and barricuda.  We had a great time with the live bait fishing and had fillets for dinner.  Cant thank the Capt enough.  Can’t wait for the San Clemente trip we have in a few days!

Matt was an awesome Captain and Teacher.  He had great equipment and showed us how to use it well. We caught 10 keepers and many 10’s of “smalls” we put back for next season. The catamaran hull boat rides super stable even in big swells. If you are looking for a 1-4 person charter boat, you can’t beat Matt and his boat. If you have never tried lobster hooping, try it, we loved it and will be back next season. ***highly recommended***

Yesterday we left out of Newport Beach to Catalina to fish with Captain Matt.  What an awesome experience!  I wanted my son’s first deep sea fishing experience to be a good one, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed.  Captain Matt went out of his way to make sure my son and the rest of us had fun and caught fish.  He is geniunely enthusiastic about fishing and his chartered trips.  All four of us that went caught fish- barracuda, calico bass, bonito and yellowtail; and it was my son who caught the big yellowtail! We also saw dolphins, sea lions (who kept trying to steal our fish), and a bald eagle. What a day…..

We were down visiting from Seattle, where we fish off the coast recreationally.  Matt took us out after stopping for a good sized load of fresh bait.  He had comfortable seats and a clean boat, which even included a head, which was very much appreciated :)  He also had a nice cooler that he allowed us to use as well. 
We had great weather and the views of the island were wonderful.
We started fishing and he had us on the spot right away.  When things slowed he was timely to get us moved to the next hot spot.  We spend a entire day pulling up Bonitas, Calicos and a Baracuda.  We believe we had a very good sized yellow tail on but I lost it…Dang it!
It was a great day!  So much so we signed up for another day of fishing with captain Matt 6/4/18. 
We will be regulars when in Huntington Beach :)

I will begin by stating that my husband has over 30 years experience with fishing and over 10 years experience with working on sports fishing charter boats. His father (my father-in-law) was a sports fishing captain as well, so he’s not a new kid on the block when it comes to sports fishing charters. On the other hand, you have me…I really don’t have much fishing experience at all. I like to fish and take plenty of naps. We enjoyed our 12 Hour Trip to Catalina Island. On our way there we saw sea lions as well as different species of whales and dolphins. We were hooked on several fish and my husband even caught his first halibut! We can’t wait to book another trip with Captain Matt. Hopefully during the summer for a chance of some yellowtail.
