Trip Summary

February is mid-winter, there is no hiding from it. The crisp fall fishing is a fading memory, the first flounder of the coming season still a month away. Temptation is to run to the Keys for some sun-baked bonefish, but a trickle of hardy anglers keeps us frozen in place. Fortunately, there is one species still willing to play. Striped bass (rockfish locally) still manage to shake off the chill and chew a little on warm sunny mid-days. If you'd like to try, or just want to get out for a while, love to have you. But be forwarned: this is not windbreaker season! Time to layer up, heavy gloves, warm hats that'll stick to your head, and trade the cooler of beer for a thermos of coffee or beef broth. Hopefully the days will start to warm soon (we're supposed to have a string of days in the 50s this week). If frozen fingers is not your thing, be sure to stop in to The Seaside Boat Show in Ocean City this weekend. See our friends, Monty Hawkins with the O.C. Reef Project, Scott Lennox with "Hooked On O.C." and the Roy Rigging Big Bird Cropper. Aloha
