First trip out! We thought this would be a good warm up for our children and us, who love to fish in rivers and creeks to start fishing in salt water. Captain never really introduced himself. We stood on the dock a little early and he walked by a half dozen times and when I asked if he was our captain he said yes while still walking away. On the boat he made us feel unwelcome. He seemed aggravated when the adults or kids didn’t do exactly as he said and he specifically told us that “if we were not paying him he wouldn’t even be there” and he “hates pretty much everything about fish”. We managed to catch 4 fish total after 3 hours of fishing. He did say no one else out was catching much but when we docked he told other captains that we just didn’t know how to fish. He said he wanted to retire in 3 years when he turns 50… I suggest he already has and is just collecting what he can from suckers like us… Also he doesn’t know what the Fishingbooker website does with his other 30% but he never sees a dime of it… making us feel put upon to give him even more.. which we did…. so all together I would say not worth our hard earned money…

I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good time. But I can assure you that I have never “phoned in” a charter in my entire career and work very hard for every client under any conditions. Some days are just a lot harder than others depending on weather, fishing conditions, etc. Also, when you show up at the dock early you were greeted, but as a Captain I have to get the boat ready and make sure that everything is set for your charter. Your trip begins at a specific time and once the boat is ready and we are off you have my undivided attention. You also have misquoted and taken my conversation out of context for your review. I don’t hate everything about fish - as I have told many clients including you - I just don’t eat them and think that eating them is gross. But I enjoy fishing very much. And I would never tell a client that if you weren’t paying me I wouldn’t be here. Once again, as I have had the same conversation with many clients I simply stated that as a guide I don’t come out on the water after 17 years of doing this just for fun very often and that I only come out with clients - which is almost everyday. Do you go to your job on your day off? I didn’t think so. You booked a family charter which is a couple hours of fishing geared towards small children and not filling the freezer. You caught many more than 4 fish including Cobia, Snapper, grouper, and a variety of others but took 4 legal fish home during that time because of size and closed seasons. We were also under windy conditions that kept us out of many areas because of concerns for the comfort of you and your young children. Following your fishing portion of your charter we proceeded to the second portion of the Family Charter which is beach time and finding shark teeth on the beaches where I happily helped you and your family find many Sharks teeth. Nor did I ever say to other captains you didn’t know how to fish. That is just completely false. And lastly, as I have also had this conversation with many other clients during final payment- I do know where the 30% that Fishingbooker takes goes, it is a deposit / booking fee and simply remind clients that they are a 3rd party booking service and that we do not receive that money or have your payment information on file. Final payment and gratuity is customary to the Captain at the end of your trip. No one is making you feel “put upon” nor was it my intention ever.
If you were unhappy with your charter experience I wish that you had brought that to my attention at the time of your trip.

Thanks for the great review. Come back and see us soon!
Experienced captain. Slow start but good finish on the last hour
Great picture! We are glad you enjoyed your trip. It was our pleasure.
Thank you for fishing with High Class Hooker Charters. As always we appreciate our customers and their feedback. Unfortunately your charter date coincided with not only a mild cold front and windy conditions, but also unseasonably high tides which made fishing difficult. Through it all though I am glad we persevered and were able to put you on multiple Black Drum, Redfish, and Snook to go with Sheepshead, Flounder, and Snapper. The extra two hours of fishing - free of charge - were my way of going the extra mile to make sure that your day was a success despite the conditions. I hope to see you again in the future under better conditions.
