We made the day of fishing, it was the best trip we did in Mexico. We would definitely recommend it. The captain was great, we caught lots of small fish that we were able to take home later. We tried different kinds of fishing, which was very nice. The captain made us the best guacamole so far, very delicious. We were still snorkeling in a reef, the water was very clear. we would do it again at any time.

We booked this trip for my son’s 12th bday, the crew was exceptional, fun and took such good care of us. Doing everything and anything they needed to make sure we were happy. We stopped at a secluded beach that the catermeran and bigger boats couldn’t dock at for the best ceviche made from the 12 Bonita fishes we caught. Worth every penny and I highly reccomend the 6 hour to make the most of the day.

We are a team of Canadian ex-Navy Seal types and when not keeping world peace with covert operations, we spend our time catching large sea creatures with our bare hands. We decided last minute to book a fishing trip on a sunday afternoon and decided on the ‘Balihoo’ as that was the code name for a mission we had in Thailand a few years back. Let me tell you, we saw sh*t we had never seen before. One guy went in the closet and never came out (RIP Rooster) …anyways… that is a story for another time. We suspected that the fishing on this mission might be challenging as it was an afternoon charter and we also had the misfortune of a ladyfriend inviting herself along. In our books this is as unlucky as an Albatross landing on the boat. Our guide Balta and his assistant however worked hard putting everything they had in the water. We did crush many of their beers and our female counterpart got seasick; we decided to dump her off on a beach for a while and Balta took us to a reef where we landed some baby groupers. At least we can say we didnt get skunked. After the yelling from our female guest became overbearing, we returned to shore to pick her up. Our buddy Ringo was wrestling a manta ray for kicks when we heard some wannabe instagram models yelling at us for help from a marooned catamaran. Turns out they just wanted attention from some buff jock fishermen so we gladly obliged. Balta politely waited as we serviced the catamaran, and we were back on our way. We dragged lines and slammed beers on the way back to playa del carmen but sadly the big fish evaded us this time

My man Lucio absolutely took care of us. Exceeded our expectations. 4 bonito 2 grouper 1 trigger fish and 1 nice barracuda. 10/10 would recommend.

Also - if you have time and few extra pesos you gotta have them clean the fish and the beachside restaurant will cook your catch for you. Best sashimi I’ve ever had! Fish tacos with the grouper, grilled barracuda, ceviche and sashimi with the bonito.

The waters were a little rough, but we tufted it out, caught six tuna, and one barracuda I was with my son and myself and the captain and the vote mate and we were the only boat on the water they brought back fish. There’s a restaurant right next to the boat that the captain and his deckhand clean the fish force gave it to the restaurant we had barracuda tacos And sashimi it was so delicious caught lesson an hour and a half ago. It was a beautiful day once we got back on dryland our feet stabilized, and the adventure was excellent day.
