Went with the wife to Cabo and wanted to do some ocean fishing. Found these guys for a great price for the two of us. Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable veteran captain. Never did any ocean fishing and managed to catch a marlin within 3 hours of my booking because of the captains experience and expertise. Unforgettable experience thanks to him and his first mate. No guarantees on catching marlin, but if there’s a guy that will find one for you it’s this man here! Definitely will be booking a boys fishing trip with Blue Sea Sportfishing very soon!

First off, we had a great experience.  On the day that was originally scheduled the winds were severe and the owner called to cancel right as we were leaving our room.  We rescheduled for two days later.  Hector, the hand, and the Captain Bernardo did an excellent job overall.  Hector was very friendly and polite.  They tried a variety of different techniques until one finally paid off at the very end of our time, and I brought in a very nicely sized striped Marlin.  Hector did a great job coaching me through the fight, and Bernardo did a great job maneuvering the boat to make it as easy as possible.  I brought in a very hefty fish (Hector estimated 170 lbs but the guy at the cleaning station who filleted it said more like 130) on 80 lb test.  According to Hector, many other boats in the fleet hooked much smaller marlin and were having trouble getting the in. 

Aside from the fishing, we saw a whale briefly and my wife loved the pelicans and sea lions who tailed the boat as we came back into the harbor in hopes of handouts of leftover bait. 

The price was excellent, but for those of you who have not fished in Cabo before you should know there was a fair amount not included.  Licenses were $20/person, and live bait ended up totalling $40 (30 up front and then 10 more when we restocked partway through after using up the initial amount).  There’s an ATM right near the meeting place that dispenses USD, but with a fee of like $10 + 7% surcharge as I recall.  So maybe get your cash ahead of time.  Fish that you catch gets taken up to a filleting and processing place.  They charged $30 for the filleting and $3/lb for vacuum packing the fish.  No charge for freezing them if they vacuum pack them.  They sell insulated boxes and Cost-co style insulated shopping bags as well, for those who want to take their catch on the plane.  Also don’t forget to allow for tipping the captain and hand.

The big harbor parking building doesn’t open early, so your best bet is parking along Paseo del Marina; if you arrive early for your trip (ours started 6AM) then you shouldn’t have trouble finding a space on white-marked curb.  Don’t park in green or red.

We have no fishing experience; we just wanted a day on the water trying something new, so we booked the smaller Panga boat with no expectations. The process to book and meet the captain on the day of was seamless and as it turns out… these two girls can fish!

Our captain was very kind and set everything up for us. We left before sunrise and got to capture the beauty while out on the water. We stopped by the arch and then continue up the coast for about 2hrs with our lines out the whole time. We then stopped and trolled for about 1.5hrs in which we caught a Mahi Mahi, but wasn’t able to reel it in, BUT THEN we caught a 5 foot long Marlin. The captain let us do all of the reeling, and then just helped bring it in the boat.

Everyone was excited when we brought it back in and were very helpful with the next steps. These two girls had a great first fishing experience.

BONUS: While out on the water we also got to see whales and dolphins!

Johnny was incredibly supportive of us (first-time anglers) and gave us a great experience. We caught skipjack, roosterfish, and a big Dorado which we took to pier and had filleted and cooked.

We also saw a mother and calf whale, and a sea turtle.

Would definitely recommend booking with Johnny and team again!

      Johnny was very accommodating. We first booked the panga, but my wife wasn’t feeling very good before we left and he let us switch to the 28 foot boat, of course it was more money but that is to be expected.
        We started out fishing for mahi and there wasn’t a dull moment. We were catching mahi left and right. We even hooked a double and my wife and I got to fight them in at the same time.
      Next we decided to head farther offshore and try for Marlin. The weather was getting pretty rough and my wife started getting seasick so we decided to head in, we trolled on the way in and caught a couple more mahi.
        The crew was very accommodating and kept the boat very clean.
